The Challenge: Leaving Shopify Behind
Jacked Up Fitness came to us with a pressing need to move off Shopify due to some behind-the-scenes issues affecting their financial operations. While we can’t share the details, the bottom line was clear: they needed a new platform where they had full ownership and control.
They loved the design of their existing Shopify store—and rightly so. The design was all-out impressive—bold, polished, and built to turn heads. They just needed to take that same energy and move it somewhere more flexible and fully under their control. Simply put, they wanted a WordPress site.
Shopify vs. WooCommerce: The Trade-Off
Shopify is a powerful, all-in-one eCommerce platform—especially for straightforward stores. But it’s not necessarily ideal for content-rich sites with lots of static pages, blog posts, and custom layouts. That’s where WordPress + WooCommerce shines.
Still, WooCommerce isn’t plug-and-play. It’s a freemium platform that often requires paid plugins (and a lot of hands-on development) to match Shopify’s baked-in features. Jacked Up Fitness needed more than just a basic WooCommerce install—they needed a custom-engineered solution.
The Build: Recreating a Premium Shopify Experience in WooCommerce
We rebuilt their Shopify theme in WordPress, pixel for pixel, and extended WooCommerce with a suite of custom-coded features to support their product catalog and user experience.
Custom WooCommerce Widgets We Built:
- Customize Your Order Widget – Let customers modify products with selectable add-ons
- Supersize Your Order Widget – Upsell options displayed in-line
- Sticky Image Slider – Keeps product visuals visible while scrolling
- Sticky Add to Cart Footer – Fully functional price indicator and add to cart button in an always-visible purchase CTA bar
- Tabbed Product Info Blocks – Clean, organized display of product details
Beyond the Storefront:
- Video Carousels
- Custom layout blocks
- Performance optimizations
- Hand-coded components to match their exact vision
We typically use Beaver Builder for layout and page design, but this project pushed us well beyond standard modules. When the out-of-the-box tools hit their limits, our dev team baked custom functionality from scratch.
The Result: Full Control, Zero Compromises
Now, Jacked Up Fitness has a fully self-hosted store with complete control over its design, functionality, and business operations. It looks as good as their Shopify site—but now runs on a flexible, content-friendly platform with room to grow.
